BBQ Tip 7
When grilling steaks, preheat the grill on high for about 10 min.
When grilling steaks, preheat the grill on high for about 10 min. You are using a very hot grill for two reasons. First, the hot fire will heat up the grills so that they will make a clear mark on the meat when it is placed on the grill. Second, the hot fire will seer the meat and help hold in the juices while it is cooking on the BBQ grill.
Place the seasoned steaks on the BBQ grill for about 3 min. and then rotate (not flip) them 90 degrees. Each time the steak is placed on the grill it should be at 45 degrees to the grates. This will give diagonal lines at an angle across the steak.
Leave for about 2 min. and then flip. The actual times referred to here, of course, will depend on the size of the steak, the heat of the coals or gas grill and the amount of cooking desired i.e. rare, medium or well.
Do the same on the second side. This gives the meat a cross hatch pattern and a real barbecued steak look. Real wood smoke from a SmokePistol® or the GrillKicker™ will add the real barbecue flavor to this great looking steak.
You can do the same with pork chops and other meat on the grill.
